Why Most Indian Websites Don't Convert (and the 7 Fixes That Work)
Most Indian websites share the same seven problems. Fix them and conversion can roughly double. Not one of these fixes needs a full redesign.
Problem 1: The hero says nothing
Most Indian websites open with 'Welcome to XYZ' or 'India's leading...'. That tells a visitor nothing about what you do or why it should matter to them. Worse, when an AI assistant reads your site to decide whether to recommend you, a vague hero gives it nothing to work with either.
Fix: the hero should answer three things in five seconds: what you do, who it is for, and what to do next.
Problem 2: Slow load on mobile
If your site takes more than three seconds on a 4G phone, half your visitors leave before it finishes loading. In India, most of your traffic is mobile, so this is not a small leak.
Fix: compress your images, lazy-load anything below the fold, and remove the four chat widgets you do not need. Check your speed here.
Problem 3: Buried contact details
Phone number tucked in the footer, WhatsApp link nowhere to be found. Mobile visitors will not scroll to hunt for it; they will simply leave.
Fix: place phone, WhatsApp and email at the top right of every page on desktop, and make each one clearly tappable on mobile.
Problem 4: No social proof
Indian customers do their homework. Without reviews, testimonials or recognisable logos, you ask them to trust you on faith alone, and few will.
Fix: one real testimonial above the fold, a logo strip, a Google review embed, and real photos rather than stock.
Problem 5: Confusing CTAs
'Learn more', 'Get started' and 'Click here' all on one page. Faced with too many choices, visitors make none.
Fix: one primary call to action per page. Just one. Make it impossible to miss.
Problem 6: Forms with too many fields
A ten-field contact form quietly loses the large majority of submissions.
Fix: name, email and one open field. Everything else can wait for the call.
Problem 7: No clear next step after submit
A generic 'thank you' page wastes the most valuable moment you have, when the visitor has just told you they are interested.
Fix: tell them what happens next and when they will hear back, and offer a calendar link or WhatsApp button as a faster route.
